It is a bridge between the many parties involved in development policy management – the “thinkers and the doers”.

The Association was formed in 1971 in Freetown, Sierra Leone.  Its head quarters is in, Nairobi, Kenya.

It has membership of over 500 top administrators and managers from many African nations and fifty corporate members which include Institutions and Schools of Public Administration and Management and as well as public sector institutions in Africa.  Many African governments and some donor institutions interested in enhancing the development and professionalization of public administration and management support AAPAM with subvantions and grants.
