It is a forum for the articulation and dissemination of ideas on human
capacity building and development issues in the African
region.
It is a bridge between the many parties involved in development policy
management – the “thinkers and the doers”.
The Association was formed in 1971 in Freetown, Sierra
Leone. Its head quarters is in, Nairobi, Kenya.
It has
membership of over 500 top administrators and managers from many African nations
and fifty corporate members which include Institutions and Schools of Public
Administration and Management and as well as public sector institutions in
Africa.
Many African governments and some donor
institutions interested in enhancing the development and professionalization of
public administration and management support AAPAM with subvantions and
grants.
AAPAM has national chapters in many African
countries.
