There are three governing organs of AAPAM,namely,The General Assembly, The Council, The Executive Committee The Secretariat coordinates the activities of the Organisation.

The General Assembly, which is the supreme body of AAPAM, meets tri-annually, sets overall policy, elects the Council and the Executive Committee.  The Council determines general policy matters.  The Executive Committee runs AAPAM during the three intervening years between the General Assembly Meetings.

The Headquarters of AAPAM is run by a Secretariat headed by the Secretary-General and assisted by a Programme Officer, a Finance Officer and Secretarial Staff.  Much of the work of the Association is run under the aegis of National Chapters which have their own constitutions but which are in consonance with the AAPAM Constitution and Rules.  They elect their National Chapter Officials and committees which oversee the Chapters activities and arrange their programmes.
