AAPAM/CESPAM Training Workshop

AAPAM and the Centre of Specialization in Public Administration and Management (CESPAM) will deliver a training workshop to be held in July 2014 for high level and middle level public servants in the African civil service (the practitioners), the top executives and middle managers in the public and private sectors, researchers and academics. The Course will be held in Gaborone, Botswana on the topic Enhancing Governance and Financial Administration in Africa. This programe seeks to build leadership competencies in establishing a culture of stewardship for public funds and examine strategies for financial administration and accountability in Africa.

AAPAM South Sudan Chapter

South Sudan Association of Public Administration and Management (SSAPAM) Workshop held on 11th -12th November 2013 at Juba Bridge Hotel, Juba South Sudan

The SSAPAM Executive Committee and General Assembly members  (L-R sitting) Jessica Achieng Omundo (AAPAM programme officer), Samwel Yanga (SSAPAM President) and Catherine Waliaula (Project Manager  IGAD Regional InitiativeUnited Nations Development Programme, South Sudan)


UNDP-IGAD project supported two training workshop organized by the National Chapter and attended by 22 participants drawn from the Executive Committee and the General assembly. The two day workshop was facilitated by Jessica Achieng – AAPAM programme Officer from the Secretariat in Nairobi Kenya.

The objective of the workshop was to build the capacity of the Executive Committee of SSAPAM through sharing experiences from the AAPAM and other national chapters. It aimed at helping SSAPAM to map its way forward as far as national establishment is concerned.

African Union Public Service Day Celebrations 2013

African Union Public Service day

AAPAM being an observer member of the African Union (AU) attended the African Public Service Day (APSD). The African Public Service Day is a special day for Public/ Civil Servants and Public Service Organizations and is celebrated on the 23rd of June of every year across the African Continent by African Union (AU) Member States. This five days event marks and appreciates the work done by Public/Civil Servants and recognizes their positive contributions to the Socio-economic development of Africa.

This year the AU Africa Public Service Day celebrations were held in Accra Ghana from 15th- 23rd June 2013 under the theme: "Africa Public Service in the Age of Open Government : Giving Voice to Citizens"

Hon.Hannah Tetteh, Minister of Foreign Affairs Government of Ghana officiated the ceremony on behalf of H.E John Dramani Mahama President of the Republic of Ghana

AAPAM Partnered with Deloitte Canada to conduct a research survey dubbed Member value Survey. The survey aimed to fulfill the following objectives:

  • Identify the needs and value drivers of the African Public sector
  • Compare core elements and visions of public service in countries across Africa
  • Support and further strengthen the overall performance  and outcomes of the programs provided to members.

The results of the survey were presented at the 34th Roundtable conference in Zanzibar Tanzania by Mr. Richard Carson
