AAPAM Young Professionals Events & Conferences
The Network facilitates activities that address the unique challenges faced by young professionals entering the civil service giving them the necessary skills, ethics, values and techniques that will mould them into highly respected professionals, the future leaders of tomorrow.
Since its conception the programme has sponsored Young Professionals in the public service to participate in high level public sector conferences/meeting where they can advocate for issues relating to young/new public sector professionals. To date the programme has seen the sponsorship of ninety six (96) young professionals from 18 countries to attend high level conferences across Africa.

This year AAPAM in partnership with the Ministry of State for Public Service, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Ministry of the East African Community, the Public Service Commission and the Kenya Association for Public Administration (KAPAM) and will draw 200 participants from East Africa to be a part of the first Young Professionals Network Conference
The theme of the conference is “Leadership, Game changers: The Future of East Africa’s Public Administration Sector”

Kenya School of Government
Kenya School of Government previously known as the Kenya Institute of Administration (KIA) is a leading provider of Learning and Development programs in the Public Sector. The Institute was established by the Kenyan Government in 1961, to promote professionalism and best management practices mainly in the Public Service. It is situated along Lower Kabete Road, Nairobi (15 Kilometers from Nairobi Central Business District). The school has expansive and serene gardens and there is ample parking space. The school provides first-class conference facility equipped with an amphitheater with a capacity of 400 persons in one sitting. AAPAM had the opportunity to hold its 31st Roundtable Conference in the school and it received remarkable approval from the delegates who attended the conference due to the Ultra-modern conference facilities, high level logistical support and extended generous hospitality to the delegates. Registration fees is exclusive of accommodation and travel expenses (air ticket/bus fare to and from Nairobi)

Cancellation and refund policy
Cancellations before 27th August 2012 will incur a US$100.00 cancellation fee
Cancellations after 27th August 2012 and before 3rd September 2012 will receive a 50% refund of fees paid
Cancellations after 3rd September 2012 will receive no refund
Appropriate behavior is expected of the delegates and AAPAM reserves the right to revoke the privileges of anyone behaving in an inappropriate manner.
Accommodation & Travel
Kenya offers a wide range of Accommodation options. Delegates are responsible for booking their own accommodation for the length of the conference. To ensure that you receive the AAPAM rate, please book with the contacts listed below. Once you have booked your venue, register these details online; your check in and departure date and the name of the venue you are staying in.
However delegates whom choose to stay in places other than those below will have to prepare their own travel arrangements.

Citizens of South Sudan are required to possess a valid Visa and Yellow Fever Immunization Card. Delegates will need to submit a personalized letter of invitation from AAPAM with their visa application.
Visas can be applied for in person or by post at the Kenyan High Commission based in the delegate’s home country.
Please note that AAPAM is not able to process visa applications and that Letters of Invitation will ONLY be issued to delegates who have been nominated to the conference.
Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that at the time you register for the Conference and book your travel you take out an insurance policy of your choice. The policy should include loss of fees/deposit through cancellation of your participation in the Conference, or through cancellation of the conference, loss of international/domestic air fares through cancellation for any reason, loss of tour monies through cancellation for any reason including airline or related services strikes within Kenya, failure to utilize tours or pre-booked arrangements due to airline delay, Force Majeure or any other reason, medical expenses (including sickness and accident cover), loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. AAPAM cannot take any responsibility for any participant failing to arrange their own insurance. This insurance is to be purchased in your country of origin.
Program and Speaker Highlights
The Conference is comprised of a be a three day Program that will include Sessions by nominated speakers, Presentations by Young Professionals, Team Building Activities and Dinner.
The Conference will serve a rich menu of sub-themes that will be delivered by carefully nominated speakers from both the public and private sector who will personalize their presentations. The conference will provide a platform for like-minded young professionals, engaged in the public service to re-think, re-define and re-imagine the future of the region. The scope of the conference will cover the unique challenges faced by young professionals entering the civil service; give them the necessary knowledge, skills and techniques that will mould them into highly respected professionals, the future leaders of tomorrow. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to reflect on their own strengths, challenges; and leadership aspirations in the company of like-minded emerging leaders. The conference will explore what is expected of a modern public sector leader and what it takes to become an effective leader.
